Reconnecting Rivers to the Bay
The Bay Institute is dedicated to protecting the Bay-Delta estuary from the Sierra to the sea. This means that conditions in the rivers and streams are as critical to securing the health of the estuary as a whole, as conditions downstream.

As a result, the Rivers & Delta program works to protect and restore high priority rivers and river reaches throughout the watershed, most recently, the San Joaquin and the Yuba Rivers.

Governor Schwarzenegger has recognized The Bay Institute for our collaboration in crafting the Yuba Accord.
The release of water from Friant Dam will resume on February 1, providing cleansing, beneficial flows to the Delta.
