Conservation
Aquarium of the Bay's commitment to conservation encompasses its visitors, its business, the community and its partners.
As the only attraction in San Francisco to achieve the coveted Green Business certification from the San Francisco Green Business program, the Aquarium serves as a model for other business to integrate environmental responsibility into their operations in a manner that is sustainable, as well as profitable.
With strong partnerships with 40 environmental and conservation organizations, Aquarium of the Bay plays an active role in the green community. It is a founding member of the San Francisco Seafood Watch Alliance, a collaboration with California Academy of Science and the San Francisco Zoo to promote Monterey Bay's Seafood Watch program to Bay Area residents and consumers.
In collaboration with the Sierra Club and the San Francisco Department of the Environment (SF Environment), it created FutureSeaLevel.org, a program to involve the community in art projects that graphically illustrate the effects of rising sea levels.
